Another "Pregnant? or just Stress-induced missed period?" question

The start of my most recent period was on Feb 26 - projected ovulation date being March 14, projected next period March 28 (via MyMonthlyCycles, where I have been keeping track of my period for 1 year). Average cycle - 30 days.

We had protected intercourse on March 3 and 24. The condom didn't break; slipped down maybe an inch but we pushed it right back up.

Now my period is 3 or 4 days late (depending if you count the 28th), with no usual signs of cramping etc that I normally get. Took two HPT's and both came out negative. Discharge looks normal, no tenderness of breasts or anything. I have had a little bit of an upset stomach but I think I may just be getting sick - I am under quite a bit of stress.

I know it's unlikely that I am pregnant, but I am paranoid since I can't afford to have a child right now. I have heard that stress really can throw off a regular period (I have been regular for 8 years now), but I have a hard time believing it since I am so paranoid... help? I don't know what's wrong with me!

Have a GYNO appt coming up in a month, but I'm the type of person who likes to know without going to the doc! It sure would be nice if my period would come!

Last time I had sex was February 10th and I'm really scared. My period usually comes at the beginning/end of the month. I don't know if this is different for February due to the shortage of days. I calculated that my period should've started yesterday but I have had no symptoms. I have had small cramping in the lower abdomen, but it's not for long. It's just short bursts. Sometimes I feel a little twitch in my lower side/ stomach area. I have been experiencing diarrhea but thats about the only pms symptom I've had. I had a headache and some nausea on 3/4-3/5. Could my period be late due to stress or is it pregnancy? Please Help!

Hi empowher. Me and my girlfriend are 21 and 19 years old respectively and are sexually active but we use condoms every time WITH withdrawal. We then check afterwards for holes or rips and it's guaranteed that there are none. We had our last intercourse last 2/22. My girlfriend had her period from 2/25 to 3/1. She says that her period was normal, nothing weird (flow, color, etc.). Before her period started, she is experiencing some kind of excessive gas in her stomach. She also feels that she needs to go to the restroom but nothing happens (like constipation). Now it is 3/6 (5 days after period) and she says that she still feels the gas and constipated. Last night she also says that she somewhat had an excessive production of saliva before sleeping. Can this be related to pregnancy? But I doubt it because she just had her period. Thanks.

Hello, Anonymous
If your girlfriend had her period already, it is very unlikely that she is pregnant, especially since you're using protection AND withdrawing. If you're unsure, have her take a pregnancy test.

Hi guys. Im gunna start with my last period, it is Jan.30 and we are sexually active. We had sex this february but i didnt remember the date :/ Uhm, i am expecting my menstruation this feb. 27 if you count on 28 days but my average period is 33 days. But feb. is already finished but my mens is not arriving yet! Im really freaking out. I took 2 prgnancy test and it came out negative on MARCH 3. My bf is convincing me just to relax becuse maybe im delayed, and he is really sure that he didnt cum inside me. Im gunna explain what i feel right now, there are times that i feel something cramps under my spine. You know, the upper part of your ass? And uh sometimes my abdomen cramps and suddenly it goes away then come back again. I always took a sneak peak on my panties everytime i go to the bathroom if there is already blood but unfortunately its only a kinda pink discharge color. :/ I HAD NEGATIVE RESULTS on march 3 but i need someone to confirm that it is the exact answer! So i am really worried about this happening to me! :( I had a son and his 7months old right now and i am breastfeeding him. What do you think is happening? Am i prgnant? Or shud i took another pregnancy test or Did i use pt so early thats why it came out negative? plese help!

Hello RenmaeBas,

I can appreciate your concern and need to know for certain whether or not you are pregnant. I can only suggest that you get a blood pregnancy test done. A blood test to check hCG levels is more accurate than a urine test. Only during pregnancy is the hormone hCG produces. Levels can be detected in blood as early as 11 days following conception.

You may be able to get a blood test done by calling your doctor's office or visiting a women's health clinic, or Planned Parenthood.

Are you saying that HPT are not accurate? :/ My 1st preg was delayed only 1 day and i had positve. I took another one this morning and as usual its still negative. Im sorry but Dont you have any suggestions beside going to the doctor? :/

I told my closest aunt about my situation and she told me that she will buy me some pill, which she says that you will really bleed after you take it. Then, i searched it here in the internet and i just figured out that THIS-PILL is just effective after sex right? (like 3-5days) but i didnt remember the date of our last sex :( Do this pill still effective when you are missing a period? And having negative results in HPT?

OH GOD I REMEMBER! OUR LAST SEX IS FEB.27. AND ITS 1WEEK BY NOW. CAN I STILL USE IT? IS IT STIL EFFECTIVE? PLEASE ANSWER! PLEASE!!!!

Hello RenmaeBas,

Your aunt is referring to an emergency contraceptive pill which must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex to be effective in preventing pregnancy. It is too late for you to take it.

I am not saying that a home pregnancy test is not accurate. It must be done using the first urine of the morning. It is most accurate if taken after your period is late by one week.

I suggested a blood pregnancy test because you appear unconvinced-- you have negative test results yet list symptoms which you questions as indicating pregnancy.

Hey guys! I just wanted to share what's happening to me. Haha! Well, i had unprotected sex on feb. then i didnt had my period until march 6! I almost took like 10 pregnancy test and it came out all negative! I also talked to the pharmacist if their pt is accurate, and she said yes. Haha i found it so funny because i almost cry every night because of worrying of being prgnant AGAIN. Then march 7, i go to a clinic to check blood test because that's what MARYANN GROMISCH said :) The doctor told me to come back next week because maybe im just delayed. I felt very much worried because i really wanna know whats going on why my period is late, and you know what? I GOT MY PERIOD NOW! HAHAHAHA. :))) Thank you lord for hearing my prayers. I love babies but i really wanted to study this year. So this time i learned my lesson, i should take pills by now. Is there any pill that safe for breastfeeding mom's?

Hi.

Me and my girlfriend are sexually active. I'm 21 and she's 19. We have sex almost 3-4 times a week. We always see to it that we use a condom everytime and we also use the withdrawal method even with the condom. Her last two periods were December 27, and January 24 (lasts for 5-7 days). She normally has a regular cycle but sometimes her periods come earlier. Her period hasn't showed up yet and we're kind of freaking out but she says that she feels that it is near and she already exhibits mood swings and acne. Could she be pregnant?
