Why Women’s Wrestling Deserves Better: RaizedUp’s Commitment to Specific Sizing in Singlets

Women’s wrestling is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. High schools and colleges across the country are adding programs, and participation is surging at the youth level. But for too long, many female wrestlers have been forced to compete in gear designed for men. Ill-fitting singlets have been the norm, leading to discomfort, distraction, and performance issues on the mat.

RaizedUp is changing that story. By developing specifically sized women’s wrestling singlets, RaizedUp is helping athletes and teams gain the confidence, comfort, and performance they deserve.

The Problem with “One-Size-Fits-All” Wrestling Gear

Historically, wrestling singlets were designed with male body types in mind. When girls and women entered the sport, they were simply expected to wear the same uniforms. That often meant straps that slipped, inseams that rode up, and fabric that didn’t stretch or contour where it needed to.

The result? Many female athletes were left self-conscious during competition, constantly adjusting their gear instead of focusing on the match. For teams trying to recruit and retain girls, that barrier was significant. An athlete who doesn’t feel comfortable in her uniform is less likely to stay engaged in the sport.

RaizedUp’s Approach to Women’s Sizing

RaizedUp recognized this gap and went to work designing singlets specifically for female wrestlers. Instead of scaling down men’s sizes, RaizedUp built a dedicated sizing chart based on female athletes’ body proportions.

That means:

  • Straps that fit securely without cutting into shoulders or slipping during a match.

  • Tapered waists that match women’s natural body lines, eliminating excess fabric.

  • Proper leg lengths that provide full coverage without riding up.

  • Stretch in the right places, supporting both mobility and modesty.

By taking the time to understand how women move and compete, RaizedUp created a singlet that not only fits but enhances performance.

Why Proper Fit Matters for Performance

In a sport as physical as wrestling, every advantage counts. A properly sized women’s singlet provides:

  • Confidence: Athletes step on the mat knowing they don’t need to worry about straps slipping or fabric shifting.

  • Mobility: A fit that contours to the body allows wrestlers to move freely without restriction.

  • Focus: With distractions removed, wrestlers can concentrate fully on their technique and opponent.

It’s not just about looking professional. It’s about giving women the same level of attention and respect in their gear that male wrestlers have always received.

Supporting the Growth of Girls’ and Women’s Wrestling

When teams invest in properly fitted women’s singlets, they send a message: female athletes matter. That message resonates at every level. High school teams are finding it easier to recruit and retain girls when they can offer gear designed for them. College programs that provide dedicated women’s singlets stand out to recruits as being serious about supporting women’s wrestling.

For parents, too, knowing their daughters can compete in uniforms made for them increases comfort and trust in the sport. The more welcoming wrestling feels, the faster the women’s side of the sport will grow.

RaizedUp’s Bigger Mission

At its core, RaizedUp’s work is about equity. Women deserve to train and compete with the same quality and care given to men. By putting real research and effort into women’s sizing, RaizedUp is breaking down one of the hidden barriers in wrestling and creating space for more athletes to succeed.

The growth of women’s wrestling has been incredible, but this is just the beginning. With specifically sized singlets, teams and programs can help their athletes feel seen, supported, and unstoppable on the mat.
