January has been deemed Cervical Cancer Awareness month. The American Cancer Society predicted that about 11,000 women would get cervical cancer in 2008 and that about 4,000 would die from the disease.
While the number of women who contract the condition has gone down significantly since the 1950s, those numbers are still a little high.
