The PBS show mentioned was, I believe, the one "Secrets of the Dead" about "Punnet squares" and correlating the spread of the Black Plague to our modern day AIDs epidemic. A Punnet square is a diagram, like a matrix, predicting genetic inheritance, named after British geneticist, Reginald Punnett. The show discussed inherited immunity.
