I had phlebitis in my early 20's - I smoked and was taking birth control pills - and the dr said I should never, ever do HRT with that history. Fast forward: I am now 60, about 10 yrs on after menopause. I had minimal symptoms, hardly noticed it, but have been diagnosed w/ osteoporosis. I had my annual gyn. exam today, and this Dr. said my vaginal wall is very dry, and if I don't start taking something I will have bladder problems (leakage?) in a few years. He wanted to give me an estrogen creme until I told him about the phlebitis. He then recommended Livial as a non-hormonal alternative. From what I have read on-line, however, the risk of clots is the same. Who to believe??
