Taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex, Plan B can reduce the risk of pregnancy by up to 89%. Taken within 24 hours, it is about 95% effective. Side effects include nausea, lower abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, dizziness and breast tenderness. There may or may not be spotting or bleeding. Some women may have changes in their period, a heavier or lighter next period, or a period that is early or late. If you took the pills within 72 hours (and before you ovulated) it should have worked. You will know that you did not become pregnant once you have bleeding or your next period, (which you say you had). If you doubt this, the only way to be sure is to take a home pregnancy test.
