Your mother should never have medicated you with your father's medication. I am sure her intentions were good.
The experiences which you describe could have been transient ischemic attacks, sometimes called a mini stroke.
Untreated serious hypertension puts you at risk for having a stroke, developing an aneurysm and causing serious damage to your heart, arteries, brain, kidneys, and eyes.
